Today is Tampon Tuesday, collecting donations of feminine hygiene products for those in need in our community.

In a joint effort between the CK Labour Council and Women United, a drive-by donation drop-off is being set up outside the United Way offices on McNaughton Avenue West in Chatham from 9am until 6:30pm.

Officials with Women United say it costs the average woman $235 a year to buy the necessary supplies, which can be a huge burden on those dealing with poverty, homelessness, or financial instability.

The products and money raised will be shared between 13 local agencies, including area food banks, the Chatham-Kent Women’s Centre, and other groups that provide services for women in need.
