The programs are run in elementary and high schools in Chatham-Kent, Windsor-Essex, and Sarnia-Lambton.

Barb Smith, who is the President of Junior Achievement South Western Ontario, says that volunteers are fully trained and set up with a class to teach financial responsibility.

“Volunteers are going to help tech them lessons around budgeting to live on their own, interview dos and don’ts, how to apply for a job, employability skills,” Smith says. “We’re turning these young people into stable, secure, financially successful students down the road so they’re able to take care of their debt and know what to do.”

To sign up as a volunteer, visit their website or give the Junior Achievement office a call at 519-352-0151.
