Wallaceburg’s Megan McCarter and Ryan Baker from John McGregor have been named this year’s Dr Jack Parry award winners as the tops in high school academics and athletics in Chatham-Kent.

McCarter says she’s honoured, but it doesn’t mean she’ll be slowing down.

“Next year, I’m going to be headed to Nipissing University on a basketball scholarship, so I’m hoping to work really hard this summer and get in the lineup right away.”

Baker was overwhelmed by the win, and says they were in great company with the other nominees.

“There’s so many great nominees that have amazing averages, amazing involvement in their schools and the community, I’m speechless.”

Both McCarter and Baker will receive a $1000 scholarship towards their post-secondary education.
