Looking for a job can be stressful – competing with hundreds of others at a job fair can be overwhelming.
With that in mind, a series of workshops are being held this week to help prepare for next month’s CK Works Community Job Fair.
“Job fairs are really unusual, they are not natural,” Jacobs says. “People usually think of a job search as quite personal, independent, one-on-one. But this is like a concert of job seeking, there’s lots of people, it’s just not a natural state for people to be in.”
Jacobs says part of the training is based on feedback they’ve received from employers.
“Overwhelmingly, the employers come back and say hey, you know what, I know it’s weird, I know it’s uncomfortable, but there were some people that maybe could have used some extra tips to understand how the process works.”
Jacobs says thinks like how to dress and how to present yourself are key to making good first impression and getting a leg up on the competition.
There are five sessions being held this week in Chatham, Wallaceburg, Tilbury, and Blenheim.
