A local gymnastics team has been given a boost.
Dragons Elite Gymnastics and Cheer has received a Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities grant worth $9950.
Organizers say they’ve been able to pay for the expenses associated with reopening the organization this spring and ensure they can continue to operate and be financially viable going forward.
“We have had to overcome many challenges in order to reopen the gym after temporarily closing due to operational and financial challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic,” Dragons Elite treasurer Rachel Goodreau said. “The Community Development Grant from Jumpstart has allowed our organization to focus on delivering and expanding our offering of classes and activities rather than dealing with the financial stress of trying to start-up costs and additional expenses relating to reopening.”
Dragons ELITE is also partnering with the Canadian Tire Jumpstart program through their Individual Child Grant program which assists families in financial need with the costs of enrolling children in sport and recreation activities. Jumpstart helps to ensure kids in need have equal access to sport and recreation.
