An organization dedicated to the betterment of youth and their futures is celebrating its sixth decade in southwestern Ontario with a multi-million dollar fundraising campaign.

To mark its 60th anniversary, Junior Achievement South Western Ontario has launched the campaign with a goal of $3.2 million to enhance and expand the organization’s reach and impact.

All funds raised will be used to advance sustainability efforts, enrich learning experiences for young people, improve IT infrastructure, and expand JA facilities.

The organization has already secured 10 per cent of its fundraising goal through a generous donation from former JA South Western Ontario board member Andy Spriet and his wife Helen.

“JA is supporting the future of business by teaching future entrepreneurs the skills they need,” said Spriet in a news release. As a lifetime entrepreneur myself, it’s important to support these efforts. Helen and I hope our gift will inspire everyone across southwestern Ontario to help in whatever way they can.”

In addition to the fundraising campaign, JA South Western Ontario will be gathering stories from as many alumni as possible to create a yearbook that will showcase the enduring impact of JA’s work in the community over the last 60 years.

Junior Achievement is a national organization that aims to inspire youth and prepare them to succeed in a global economy.
