A major youth-serving not-for-profit organization is selling off its headquarters in Chatham, citing a “strategic realignment of resources.”
Junior Achievement South Western Ontario has announced that it will be divesting from its longstanding property at 60 William St. S.
Organization President and CEO Karen Gallant said the decision was made following deliberation by the board of directors and a reassessment of the organization’s operational needs.
“While this building had been integral to our operations, this move allows us to concentrate more effectively on our core mission of fostering financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship among youth,” said Gallant in a news release. “This strategic realignment enables us to expand our reach and deepen our impact on the future leaders of Chatham-Kent.”
According to JA South Western Ontario, the organization reached around 3,725 Chatham-Kent students from Grades 4 to 12 during the 2023-2024 school year — a 150 per cent increase from the year prior.
Officials say the change will not affect any programming offered in Chatham-Kent, and the organization is committed to serving even more students in future.
JA fosters financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship by providing hands-on, experiential learning programs.
