Local residents should expect a knock at the door this weekend from their friendly neighbourhood firefighters.
Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Services will be taking part in its annual CHiRP Day on Saturday, with firefighters from all 19 stations going door-to-door to engage and educate the community.
Fire officials will offer safety checks at each home, and will carefully examine, test, and replace smoke and carbon monoxide alarms as needed.
“The entire process typically takes no more than 10-15 minutes and is reassurance that you and your loved ones are safeguarded against fire and carbon monoxide dangers,” said Community Safety Officer Whitney Burk.
Those interested in scheduling a CHiRP Home Safety Check can contact the CK fire department by visiting ckfire.ca or calling 519-360-1998.
