The legacy of a Canadian curler is helping keep newborns warm and safe at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

The Sandra Schmirler Foundation recently presented the CKHA Foundation with a cheque for $62,168 to help purchase a new Panda iRes Bedded Warmer for use in the Neonatal Care Unit.

The mission of the Sandra Schmirler Foundation is to help babies born too soon, too small, too sick, or too far.

Hospital officials say this advanced piece of equipment helps provide a warm, safe, and stable environment for newborns who need extra care in their first moments of life.
