With the last long weekend of summer upon us, provincial police will be out in force to help make sure everyone is being safe on the roads and waterways.

Today through September 2, officers will be focusing on the “Big Four” which includes distracted driving, alcohol/or drug impaired driving, speeding/aggressive driving, and lack of occupant restraint use.

In 2023, a total of 2426 charges were laid stemming from 2577 traffic stops in the OPP’s West Region over the Labour Day weekend.

Authorities remind everyone to plan ahead, drive sober, and respect others on the roadway, including cyclists, farm machinery operators and pedestrians.
