Municipal officials are asking area residents to keep their sidewalks clear.

The Municipality plows all sidewalks in Chatham-Kent whenever there’s more than 8cm of snow, but the responsibility for de-icing falls to property owners.

With 410 kilometres of sidewalks across CK, municipal officials are hoping everyone will chip in to help.

“Slippery sidewalks can result in injuries. We want to ensure that sidewalks adjacent to properties are kept free of ice and snow accumulations, and we encourage you to offer assistance to any neighbours that might be in need,” says Ryan Brown, Director of Public Works. “The Municipality appreciates your co-operation. As we know, winters can be lengthy and at times frustrating due to changing weather conditions and temperatures.

Anyone who comes across an unsafe sidewalk is encouraged to call 3-1-1 or email ck311@chatham-kent.ca.
