A major fundraising campaign is being launched to keep a local camp running for generations to come.
The “Solid Ground and Soaring Future” campaign aims to raise money for critical infrastructure upgrades.
Kenesserie Camp first opened in 1903, and welcomed over 460 campers last summer despite a number of unexpected challenges, including the Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit restricting use of several buildings, citing safety concerns over shoreline erosion.
The group is hoping to raise a total of $500,000 with $142,000 already raised.
The funds raised will support a new commercial kitchen, relocate cabins, upgrade utilities, and expand the camp safely.
