Proceeds from the Food Freedom Day food drive in 2017.

The Kent Federation of Agriculture is looking for some help as Food Freedom Day approaches.

February 9th is the day when the average Canadian has earned enough to feed themselves for the coming year, according to the Canadian Federation of Agriculture.

To mark the day KFA spokesperson Mary Anne Udvari says they have an event planned.

“What we are doing is asking the community to help us do a food drive,” Udvari says, “and we’re going to be giving the food to the Salvation Army and Outreach for Hunger.”

If you’d like to donate to the cause, contact the KFA at 519-674-1500 x63595 or email kfa@uoguelph.ca.

Last year, Food Freedom Day fell on February 8th.
