The Kent Federation of Agriculture celebrated Agriculture Day by holding a food drive in Chatham.

Big crowds dropped by the Salvation Army headquarters on Orangewood Blvd to drop off donations for Outreach for Hunger and the Salvation Army.

Brenda Leclair, the Executive director of Outreach for hunger said “I just want to thank Chatham-Kent Agriculture for this tremendous support. Agriculture has always been very near and dear to my heart, and I know the importance of it here in our community. “

Captain Steven Holland with the Salvation Army said “ it’s really great to have fresh vegetables, and fruit for people in need at this time. I thank everybody and all the agriculture that is done in our community,”

Chatham-Kent is home to a $4-billion dollar agriculture and agri-food industry, responsible for over 16,000 jobs.
