An unattended pot on the stove is getting the blame for an apartment fire in Blenheim.
Crews responded to an upper level apartment in downtown Blenheim yesterday afternoon, quickly dousing the flames.
Fire officials say one resident suffered smoke inhalation and burns while trying to move a burning pot outside.
Fire fighters also rescued a cat from the blaze.
Damage is pegged at $5000.
