The Kiwanis Club of Chatham-Kent is helping to green up some local schoolyards.

The service club recently donated seven red maple trees to St Angela Merici Catholic School, the latest in a campaign to plant Carolinian trees at elementary schools and other locations across the municipality.

In the last few weeks, 30 trees have been planted at five schools and Kiwanis Stadium on Tweedsmuir Avenue in Chatham.

The group has also planted 100 seedlings at the Scouts’ Camp Cataraqui on the shores of Lake Erie.
