The Kiwanis Music Festival is underway in Chatham-Kent, the first in-person festival locally since before the pandemic.

Hundreds of performers of all ages and musical backgrounds will be taking part in the 77th annual showcase, which runs through April 17 at the Cultural Centre and Holy Trinity/St Paul’s Anglican Church.

This year’s festival includes a variety of performances, workshops, and competitions, culminating in an awards ceremony recognizing top performers.

The Grand Concert will be held at the Kiwanis Theatre on May 16th.

A special flag raising ceremony was held at the Civic Centre in Chatham last week to mark the occasion.

“Music is an integral part of our community, and the Kiwanis Music Festival celebrates the diversity and talent of our local musicians,” said Councillor Alyson Storey. “We are thrilled to kick off this year’s festival with the flag raising ceremony, which symbolizes our commitment to promoting musical education and fostering a love of music in our community.”

Through the festival, the Kiwanis Club hopes to inspire future generations of musicians and create a vibrant and thriving local music scene.
