An aggressive confrontation with police has landed a local man with charges.
On Saturday, Chatham-Kent Police were in a marked cruiser doing a property check at the back of a St Clair Street business when a man allegedly charged at the cruiser carrying a large knife. Authorities say the man began to bang on the vehicle’s window with the knife still in his hand.
The officer behind the wheel backed the cruiser up, then managed to take the accused into custody.
Police say the suspect is before the courts on charges from a different jurisdiction as well.
He was taken to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
