Nursing students at Lambton College will soon be able to apply for additional financial assistance through a provincial grant program.

Students enrolled in the college’s two-year Practical Nursing or four-year Bachelor of Science – Nursing programs will be able to apply for the Ontario government’s Learn and Stay Grant in the spring. Grant applications will also be open to nursing students attending the college in September.

“It’s great to see the provincial government recognize the increased demand for nursing professionals in our region, and put both funding and incentives in place to help more students study and pursue healthcare careers in Sarnia-Lambton,” said Mary Vaughan, the senior vice president of academic and student success at Lambton College.

Eligible students will receive full upfront funding for tuition, books and other direct educational costs, in return for working in the region where they studied for a minimum of six months for every year funded by the grant.

Students attending other post-secondary institutions in neighbouring communities may also be eligible for the grant, including those at Fanshawe College and Western University in London, as well as the University of Windsor and St. Clair College in Windsor.
