One of the largest agricultural events of the calendar year is returning to southwestern Ontario.
Lambton County has been chosen as the host community for the 2027 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo.
The week-long event is expected to be held the third week of September that year, drawing tens of thousands of visitors to the area.
Lambton County last hosted the plowing match in 1991. Organizers say they hope to host the ’27 event at the Brigden Fairgrounds, but the site still needs to be approved by the IPM.
Chatham-Kent played host to the 2018 International Plowing Match, drawing a crowd of roughly 77,000 with an economic spinoff of $3-million, including thousands of dollars raised for local charities and service clubs.
This year’s IPM is taking place in the Niagara Region, with Bruce County preparing for its turn in 2026.
