Lead-Foot Driver Arrested In Chatham

A Chatham man will be without his vehicle for the next two weeks after he was allegedly caught driving at nearly double the posted speed limit.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said on Tuesday at around 4:30 a.m., an officer on general patrol stopped a vehicle for speeding on Highway 40 in Chatham between Pioneer Line and Darrell Line.

Authorities said the vehicle was allegedly clocked at 146 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

As a result, the 36-year-old accused was arrested and charged with stunt driving. He was also issued a 30-day licence suspension and his vehicle will impounded for 14 days.
