With the provincial election just over six months away, the Ontario PC party is getting its ducks in a row.

Leamington municipal councilor Trevor Jones has been nominated to carry the party’s banner in Chatham-Kent-Leamington.

“I am incredibly honoured to join Doug Ford and his PC team ahead of the next provincial election,” Jones says in a news release.

The post was left vacant after MPP Rick Nicholls was ejected from the Conservative caucus this past summer for refusing to get vaccinated against COVID-19. Nicholls had represented the PC party since 2011.

Aside from municipal politics, Jones’ resume includes serving with the Essex County OPP and an executive with Mastronardi Produce, and agriculture sector advocate.

“We are pleased to welcome Trevor to our PC team ahead of the next election,” said Brian Patterson, President of the Ontario PC Party. “He will make a great MPP and representative for Chatham-Kent-Leamington at Queen’s Park.”

The 2022 provincial election will be held on or before June 2nd.
