Volunteers will be hitting the streets in the Chatham area to collect donations to help ensure no child is without a Christmas.
The Chatham Goodfellows Porchlight Campaign returns Monday night with volunteers going door-to-door to collect toys, food and monetary donations from households that leave their porchlight on.
“This is our big test. The Porchlight [Campaign] is one of our biggest ones that we do all year, one of our big fundraisers,” said Chatham Goodfellows President Tim Haskell.
Last year’s Porchlight campaign raised a total of $57,680.
“With the cost of living the way it is we kind of want it a little higher [this year]. Food prices have just gone crazy out there,” said Haskell. “The need is slowly growing. I think it’s going to keep growing over the years because of the way the economy has gone and I can’t see it going down.”
All donations will support the Goodfellows’ No Child Without A Christmas Campaign, with food and toy deliveries being made to those in need later this month.
The Goodfellows will also conduct their yearly Street Sales on December 13-14 to collect additional donations.
