If you would like to weigh in on the hot topic of municipal taxes this is your chance.
Chatham-Kent has opened an on line survey to get your thoughts on the tax rates, launching the Tax System Modernization Project, thanks to a $100,000 Provincial Efficiency Grant.
The idea is to implement a new tax system and consolidate the tax rates, creating efficiencies in the administration of property taxes.
The project is revenue neutral, assuming total tax revenue generated will remain unchanged for the municipality. Area rating shifts the tax burden between properties with significant differences in service levels. None of the recommended changes will have an impact on service levels.
