Licence Plate Scanner Nabs Prohibited Driver

A police licence plate scanner has helped to take a prohibited driver off the road in Corunna.

The Ontario Provincial Police said officers were notified by their Automated Licence Plate Recognition system of a possible suspended driver on Beckwith Street shortly after 11:20 a.m. on Tuesday.

Police stopped the vehicle and learned that the man behind the wheel had been prohibited from driving.

As a result, a 66-year-old Corunna resident has been charged with two counts of operation while prohibited. He will answer the charges in court next month.
