Chatham-Kent is encouraging local residents to get into the festive spirit by decorating their homes for a chance to win prizes.
As part of the third annual “Light Up Chatham-Kent” initiative, the municipality is asking residents to post pictures of their decorated homes online by pinning them to a virtual map to create a local holiday lights tour for the community.
“The holiday season is a time for coming together, and there’s no better way to do that than by illuminating our community with the spirit of the season,” said Mayor Darrin Canniff in a news release. “The ‘Light Up Chatham-Kent’ initiative has become a cherished tradition, and it’s incredible to see how our residents’ creativity and holiday spirit shine through their festive displays. We can’t wait to see the town aglow with holiday lights once again.”
Those who post their creative home displays will be entered into two contests that are sponsored by Canadian Tire.
Beginning December 1, Local residents who place a pin on the virtual map will be entered into a draw for a gift card from Canadian Tire. As well, the community will be able to vote for the best light displays between December 13-19. The top three winners will also receive a gift card from Canadian Tire.
