Lighting Up CK To Raise Alzheimer’s Awareness

A local organization has launched a contest that aims to illuminate Chatham-Kent during World Alzheimer’s Month.

The Glow Blue for Alz awareness contest will take place throughout the month of September, with the Alzheimer Society of Chatham-Kent (ASCK) encouraging area residents to light up their homes and buildings with the colour blue, the colour that symbolizes dementia and Alzheimer Societies across Canada.

Participants can snap a picture of their porch light, window display, or building façade lit up in blue, share it on Facebook or Instagram, and tag ASCK. Pictures can also be emailed to Fundraising and Community Engagement Coordinator Joel Emery at joel@justasck.ca. Those who submit a donation directly to the ASCK will be entered into the contest as well.

Everyone who participates will have a chance to win a $200 VISA gift card.

The contest closes on September 26 at 4:30 p.m. The winner will then be chosen at random on September 29.

World Alzheimer’s Month is an annual international campaign to raise awareness and challenge the stigma surrounding Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
