On Walpole Island they are using the Christmas season to spread some joy during these tough days.

Penny Williams is a Community Health Specialist.

Since COVID started we got this idea from two community members to put Christmas lights up, or lights in the shape of hearts to encourage people in the community to be safe. Now it is still going on, we have about 50 hearts up in the community, and we have about 38 Christmas lights up.”

She says for most people the hearts really mean something, maybe for a family member or the fight against COVID-19 in general.

They lights go on at 9 every night, but remember you can’t take a drive over as the bridge remains closed.
