Living Inside a Storage Container for a Good Cause

A local man is putting his comfort on the line for a good cause.

Today through October 26, Isaac Davey will be taking part in the “7 Days Contained” challenge, living inside a Portable Storage container outside the Exordia Creative office on Llewellyn Street in downtown Chatham.

The container starts fully furnished with snacks and entertainment, but every donation removes an everyday comfort, including Davey’s bed and seating, making his stay progressively tougher.

The event aims to raise $12,000 for the Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation of Chatham-Kent.

“I’m excited to see how far people take this and how much we can raise throughout the week,” Davey said in a news release. “I’m starting off pretty comfortably, but I have a feeling that won’t last very long. If losing some of my everyday comforts helps raise more money for kids in our community, I’m all in.”

Organizers say essential health and safety provisions will remain available to Davey throughout the challenge, such as necessary food and water, heating and ventilation, fire and carbon monoxide safety equipment, communication and livestream equipment, and other items required to safely complete the challenge.

Supporters can make donations online, and follow along through a 24/7 livestream on Davey’s YouTube channel.
