Citing concerns over student safety, the Lambton Kent District School Board is cancelling its student safety patrol program.
Spokesperson Heather Hughes says ultimately it’s up to parents to ensure their children are safe.
“The safety patroller program is in no way intended to replace any kind of adult supervision,” says Hughes. “The existing supervisor will continue and we leave it up to the schools to determine if there are any changes to be made.”
Hughes says there are only five schools left in Chatham and Wallaceburg that have a safety patrol.
