No decisions have been made yet in regard to the potential closure of a Chatham public school.

Gary Girardi, Superintendent of Education with the Lambton-Kent District School Board says it’s more of a consolidation.

“The LKDSB administration presented a recommendation to the board of trustees to close John N. Given,” says Girardi. “And consolidate the English language students into Tecumseh Public School and the French Grade 7-8 into McNaughton Ave. Public School.”

A public meeting was held last week to hear the concerns of parents, students, and the community.

A record of the meeting can be found on the LKDSB website.

The next two meetings are open to the public, and will be on January 19th and February 23rd.
