Trustees have given their blessing to the Lambton Kent District School Board’s budget for the coming year.
The fiscal blueprint comes in at 369.4 million dollars, with a provincial funding allocation averaging $13,852 per student.
LKDSB figures show the projected average daily enrolment for the upcoming school year is 21,511 total pupils with 14,580 elementary students and 6,931 students at the high school level.
Director of Education john Howitt says the board’s strategic priorities for the 2024-25 school year include student achievement and well-being; inclusive diversity; and trusting relationships.
“One of the LKDSB’s Strategic Priorities is ‘Sustainable Stewardship: Optimize human, financial and physical resources’” Howitt explained in a news release. “We appreciate the ongoing efforts of staff to put students first and make responsible decisions to maximize student programming and funding allocations that support student success and well-being.”
“We are very pleased to see a balance budget,” announced Board Chair, Randy Campbell, “And we know the incredible amount of time, effort and work that it took from the LKDSB staff team to get to this point.”
The Lambton Kent District School Board provides quality educational services to more than 21,500 students in 62 elementary and secondary schools across the Sarnia-Lambton and Chatham-Kent communities.
The budget year runs from September 1, 2024 to August 31, 2025.
