Under the Highway Traffic Act, the province puts reduced load restrictions on trucks to protect Ontario’s highways during spring thaw, when road damage is most likely to occur.

Chatham-Kent officials say the half-load restrictions, which are usually in effect between March 1st and April 30th, have been put in place starting today.

Any roads that are affected by the limits will have signs posted.
