A local school board is laying the groundwork for the next five years of education.
The St. Clair Catholic District School Board has released its 2026-2030 multi-year strategic plan, which officials say was shaped by input from students, families, staff, trustees, parish partners, and the overall community.
“This plan truly reflects the voices of our community and will guide student achievement with purpose and faith in the years ahead,” Director of Education Lisa Demers said in a news release. “We are deeply grateful to our staff, parents, community partners, parishes and most importantly our students, whose insights and experiences helped shape this vision for the future.”
Key goals include strengthening Catholic identity and social justice initiatives; enhancing student achievement through evidence-informed practices in literacy, math, and special education; and fostering inclusive, supportive learning environments. The strategic plan also emphasizes experiential learning, transferable skills, responsible use of technology, and enhanced mental health supports.
“As trustees, our role is to steward the mission of Catholic education with integrity and a deep sense of responsibility to the families we serve,” Board Chair John Van Heck said. “This plan reflects strong governance, thoughtful collaboration, and a shared commitment to leading faith-filled student achievement and well-being into the future. We are grateful for the voices that helped shape this direction and for the partnerships that will carry it forward.”
Officials say a redesigned website, launched at the beginning of this month, also demonstrates the board’s commitment to communication and community engagement.
