Local emergency officials helped deliver a great Christmas gift to 130 kids from around Chatham-Kent Saturday morning.
A shopping spree to help them buy presents for their family members.
It was the 5th annual “Holiday with a Hero” event and featured over 100 police officers, fire fighters, paramedics, doctors who served as a personal shopper for the kids while they picked out their presents.
Constable Jay Denorer admitted they get as much out of it as the kids do.” Oh, it’s very heartwarming, especially for a lot of the volunteers who helped out throughout the year. It’s a big lead up and then once you get here, and see the smiles on the kid’s faces, and that’s what I’ve heard a lot of today is how people actually saw the smiles and that’s a sense of accomplishment.”.
They needed one school bus the first year, and three this year to help the kids with their haul.
The gift cards used come from businesses and individuals throughout the year
