Local MP Named Conservative Deputy Whip

Another high profile position for a local MP.

Lambton-Kent-Middlesex representative Lianne Rood has been named to the federal conservative parliamentary leadership team under interim leader Candice Bergen.

Rood has been appointed deputy whip and co-chair of question period planning.

“As a Member of Parliament, I have been privileged to serve my constituents and Canadians in different portfolios,” Rood says in a statement released on social media. “I am excited to take on these new roles and to continue working alongside my caucus colleagues for Canadians from coast-to-coast.”

Rood has held several positions since being elected in 2019, including Shadow Minister for Rural Economic Development and Rural Broadband Strategy, as well as Shadow Minister for Agriculture and Agri-food.
