A local politician has landed another new role at Queens Park.
In a cabinet shuffle announced by Premier Doug Ford on Thursday, Chatham-Kent-Leamington MPP Trevor Jones was named Associate Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Response as part of the Treasury Board Secretariat.
Jones, who was first elected to Queen’s Park in 2022, retains his role of Deputy Government House Leader.
He previously served as parliamentary assistant to the Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, and as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs before that.
Other notable changes in Thursday’s cabinet shuffle, Stephen Lecce is out as Ontario’s Minister of Education, being replaced by Todd Smith. Lecce is now the Minister of Energy and Electrification. Rob Flack has been named Minister of Farming, Agriculture and Agribusiness.
