An annual charity golf tournament has handed out thousands of dollars in support of several local organizations.
The fifth annual CK Charity Classic took place at Willow Ridge Golf & Country Club on August 16, raising more than $44,000. Sponsors and recipients gathered at Red Barn Brewing Company on October 2 as the funds were presented to three main causes.
A portion of the funds was given to the Mental Health Network of Chatham Kent for the purchase of a new air conditioner and a new double oven kitchen setup for their facility.
The second recipient was the Ontario Student Nutrition Program, which was able to purchase over 17,000 snacks for school-aged children in Chatham-Kent.
As well, FreeHelp CK received a donation for its Meals for Seniors program to serve 125 seniors weekly.
Additional funds were also used to sponsor the Chatham Kent Children’s Safety Expo, and to purchase new equipment for school-aged kids at the CK Racquet Centre.
Since its inception, the CK Charity Classic has raised over $146,000, supporting various not-for-profit and charitable organizations.
