A trio of local organizations is teaming up to recruit some helping hands β and wheels.
Officials with Family Service Kent, Neighbourlink, and Canadian Cancer Society-Wheels of Hope have partnered to recruit volunteer drivers to help local residents in need of transportation.
Volunteer drivers support seniors, people with disabilities, and those diagnosed with cancer access essential services such as medical appointments, grocery shopping, as well as social activities. Officials say the partnership aims to bridge the transportation gap and promote independence and social inclusion for vulnerable populations.
Each organization has their own individualized training and ongoing support to ensure safety and comfort for both drivers and passengers. Volunteers would be required to provide their own vehicle.
