Walkers, joggers and runners will band together this weekend in support of end-of-life care in Chatham-Kent.
The eighth annual Hike for Hospice event will take place on Sunday at John McGregor Secondary School beginning at noon. Mud Creek Trail in Chatham has also been set up this past week for hikers to enjoy on their own time.
Pre-hike activities will get underway at noon and will include live music, memorial activities, lawn games, kid’s activities and more. The walk officially begins at 2 p.m.
More than 20 teams are expected to take part, along with over 500 individual participants.
All funds raised for the event through pledges will go to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation to ensure families can continue to access compassionate end-of-life care at no cost.
The fundraising goal for this year’s event is $140,000. Since 2017, Hike for Hospice has raised $800,000 to support local families.
