An upcoming public information session will give local residents their first look at the proposed Chatham-Kent Community Hub project.

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is holding the open-house style event at the John D. Bradley Centre on July 17 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., as part of an ongoing community engagement process.

The CK Community Hub is a multi-year project that proposes amalgamating the Chatham-Kent Civic Centre, CK Public Library and CK Museum into the former Sears building in downtown Chatham.

The information session will offer community members the opportunity to view the first architectural renderings of the proposed Community Hub, see proposed floor plans, and learn more about the collaboration being conducted with community stakeholders. Information on the current progress being made on the project will also be provided.

A new survey has also been launched on the Let’s Talk Chatham-Kent website, to give everyone a chance to provide input on the project. The survey will close on August 7 and the information gathered will be used to inform the design and features of the project.

As part of the first phase of the project, Chatham-Kent Council purchased the Sears portion of the Downtown Chatham Centre in January, at a cost of $2.95 million.

Once detailed concept designs and an updated cost estimate are finalized, a progress report will then be presented to CK Council for a decision on the continuation of the project.
