The Lambton-Kent District School Board, and St. Clair Catholic District School Board will begin asymptomatic COVID-19 testing on Sunday March 14th.
The voluntary testing will be open to all students and staff of the four local boards (Lambton Kent District School Board, St. Clair Catholic District School Board, Conseil Scolaire Catholique Providence and Conseil Scolaire Viamonde,) with a clinic set up at Great Lakes Secondary School on Murphy Road in Sarnia.
The testing will be coordinated by CKLASS, the organization in charge of shared school services, and General Manager Kent Orr says they are scrambling a little this weekend.
“We’re working on a multi-week schedule that will address all schools across the district,” Orr says. “We were unfortunately unable to get multiple teams for this weekend.”
Eventually they will have testing sites set up in most of Lambton, and Chatham-Kent. Children in child care centers will also be eligible.
“In the interest of expediting the launch, we are launching in Sarnia for Sunday, and we’ll be providing information and the full schedule in the coming days after we lock in the final details with the Ministry’s vendor.”
The full schedule will be posted online at cklass.ca/covid19_testing.
The province first announced targeted asymptomatic testing for all students and educational staff across Ontario in early February. The goal is to test 5% of schools in each board every week.
