Born and raised in London Ontario, 19 year old Genevieve comes from a rich heritage of Aboriginal and Italian descent. Her father is from Chippewas of the Thames First Nation in Muncey, Ontario and her mother is from Calabria Italy.
She is very proud of her heritage and is actively involved in both communities who have embraced her gift of music.
Genevieve has not looked back since winning her first competition while only 2 years old. She cannot remember a time in her life when music was not uppermost in her mind. As a student of music Genevieve is accomplished in piano, violin, and various forms of choir. However, her first love has always been, and still remains, country music.
At the age of 13 Genevieve competed at the 30th Annual Canadian Open Country Singing Competition for her age group in Simcoe, Ontario and walked away with top honours.
Genevieve often finds herself out in the community, never saying no to the many organizations that request her talents to help raise money for their causes. In the past she has volunteered her time for various events including The Aboriginal Festival, Native Community Events, Fight against Breast Cancer, Women’s Shelters, Tsunami Disaster Relief, Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, Thyroid Foundation, Children’s Hospitals, Partners in Research and other organizations.
She has been asked to perform the National Anthem at countless events including baseball games, The Canadian National Diving Championships and Sportsmen Hall of Fame dinners.
Monthly you will still find Genevieve singing for the residents of senior homes and hospitals.
This past June, she became the youngest artist to walk away with an award at the London Music Awards in her Ontario hometown as she was selected as the Most Popular Country Artist.
Most recently Genevieve, and her newly formed 5 piece band, has had the honour and priveledge of being asked to open for recording artist Crystal Shawanda on 2 occasions. Her world continues to grow with many exciting new projects in the works for the future. This includes recording her first CD featuring a number of tracks written by Genevieve and featured on national radio, including 99.1 CKXS.

At the age of 19, Genevieve Fisher has already achieved more in her career than most artists could ever hope for. Genevieve, born in London Ontario of Aboriginal and Italian parents, has been performing in front of and exciting audiences since the age of two. Since that first award winning performance at the Ilderton Fair in Ontario she has continued her climb to national recognition as one of Canada’s new breed of country singers. At the age of 13 Genevieve took top honours for her age group at the 30th annual Canadian Open Country Singing Competition in Simcoe Ontario. At the age of 16, after the creation of her live band, Genevieve had the distinction of opening for 2009’s Canadian Female Country Artist of the Year Crystal Shawanda. This continued to pave the path for her successful rise to national prominence. The decision to travel to Nashville to record her first CD turned out to be the turning point in her young career. In October 2010, armed with a number of solid songs, she took the trip to OmniSound Studios in Nashville. The tracks to be recorded were a combination of songs written by herself as well as some of Nashville’s top songwriters including Jeffrey Steele and Craig Wiseman.
“Keep On”, a ballad which Genevieve co-wrote, was released in January of 2011. This initial introduction to the rest of Canada proved to be highly successful. Over 25 stations gave the song airplay placing Genevieve #60 on the national Country Charts. Her followup single, Some Letter That You Wrote Me, also entered the top 100. The charting service, TRAX REPORT, currently has her positioned at the 13th most played Canadian female country artist on national radio. This adjusts to a very respectable 24th when international singers such as Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and Reba McEntire are included. Not to rest on the success of this first offering, Genevieve has followed up with a strong pop country recording written, and sent to her, by Nashville writing giant Jeffrey Steele. This should prove to give Genevieve a strong base to build on her blossoming career.
Although her career seems to be ready to explode, Genevieve has continued to further her studies until she feels she is unable to balance the two. She is currently enrolled in university studying popular music. As if this does not keep her busy enough, she continues to give back to the communities that have supported her. She often performs at Chippewa of The Thames First Nation near London. Considered a great role model for their youth, she exemplifies someone who can succeed through hard work and dedication. In her hometown of London, she can still be found performing in Senior’s homes as many as 3 times a week as she digs back and performs old classics for the residents. Rarely does she pass on the opportunity to lend her talents to the many needy charities. Some of the many events she has supported include the Fight against Breast Cancer, the Women’s Shelter, Tsunami Disaster Relief, Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, Thyroid Foundation, The Children’s Hospital and Partners in Research. Even the proceeds generated at the door for her CD Release Party were donated to The Canadian Liver Foundation. Her obvious musical gift combined with the desire to give back to the community has created the persona of Genevieve Fisher.
