Tune in daily this week at 3:40 pm as Jay features Sarnia’s Kathy Shortt on the CKXS Local Spotlight!

Kathy Shortt is a singer/songwriter from Sarnia, Ontario.

Former band-member alongside the well known group Legato, Kathy recorded her first album alongside the band in 1999 inside London, Ontario’s EMAC Studio.

Singing and writing poetry since a small child, Kathy bought her first acoustic guitar (a Carter), started writing songs and has been hooked for life

“I don’t really know how many songs I’ve written,” says Kathy. “They just keep coming to me for whatever reason.”

With Legato, Kathy sang lead from 1982 until 2000, with Anne Reid (her sister), Donna Wade, Sheila Ainsworth, Nora Odonavan and Dale Dubreuil. Shortt is also experienced in the craft of back-up vocals, taking part in backing vocal tracks on multiple other albums as well.

Kathy is a true lover of all things music and a natural musician at heart.

“It’s never the finish line, but the journey” she adds. “It’s all a lot of fun, best medicine in the world.”

Kathy is celebrating the release of her latest album “Wild Daisies” on Friday, November 23rd at Jack Doyle’s in Sarnia.
