Tune in daily all this week as Jay features London’s KEVIN BULMER on the Local Spotlight! The segment airs Monday-Friday at 3:40 pm!

A successful sales and marketing professional by day, Kevin loves to write and share songs in his own time. He generally writes in a metaphoric style about things that inspire, puzzle and concern him

Kevin was born and raised in London, Ontario, Canada. After being given a transistor radio from his Grandpa at age 8, Kevin began zealously listening to Ernie Harwell’s broadcasts of Detroit Tiger baseball games. The result was the creation of a lifelong Tiger fan as well as Kevin’s initial interest in pursuing radio and communications as a career.

Kevin attended Stoneybrook Public School, where he was elected class Valedictorian. He went on to H.B. Beal Secondary School where he won “Broadcaster of the Year” honours upon graduating from the TV & Radio Arts program. He again earned the “Broadcaster of the Year” award at Fanshawe College, where he graduated from the Radio Broadcasting program in 1996.

Since then, Kevin has worked in the broadcast industry in programming, sales, management and promotion. He has served as Sales and Marketing Director and General Manager of a business recognized nationally in its field;  helped create, build a strategic marketing plan and revenue base for a completely new incorporated company; written, recorded and released original music; become a published writer and fulfilled countless speaking and announcing engagements.

Kevin is an avid reader. “Captain Blood” by Rafael Sabatini and “Old Man and the Sea” by Ernest Hemingway are the two books he wouldn’t want to be without.

In addition to his life-long support for the Detroit Tigers, Kevin has been a fan of the Miami Heat since their inception in 1988 and is happy to be an Oakland Raiders fan despite their many recent years of misery. And speaking of misery, he proudly pulls for the Toronto Maple Leafs as well. He has also grown into a golf enthusiast in recent years, as well as being a loyal follower of NASCAR racing (go 29!).

Kevin is passionate about music and has long enjoyed (and become inspired by) a wide variety of artists in many different genres. His absolute favourite is the band Extreme (“the most misunderstood and under-appreciated band of my generation”). Others always at the top of his list include Canadian singer-songwriter David Francey, Great Big Sea, Bruce Springsteen, Jimmy Buffett and the Trews. His three “desert island discs” (CDs you wouldn’t want to live without) would be either “Skating Rink” or  “Right of Passage” by Francey, Buffett’s “Live: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays” and “Three Sides to Every Story” by Extreme. A VERY close fourth would be Green Day’s “21st Century Breakdown.”

Kevin currently lives in London, Ontario.
