Daddy Long Legs, Waterloo Ontario’s gritty electrified blues band, are happy to release their fourth CD, “Liars, Cheats and Scoundrels”, on Busted Flat Records. For Daddy Long Legs, playing the blues has nothing to do with nostalgia, or trying to recreate their blues record collections. Rather, it’s about mashing together all the brawn of riff-based garage rock, the soul of 60’s era rhythm and blues, and all the jump and shuffle of the west coast and Chicago sounds to create new blues music that is about the here-and-now. As a result, Daddy Long Legs have become an enigma of the music scene, appealing to an eclectic bunch of blues purists, rock-a-billies, and alt-rockers alike.

With their latest release, Daddy Long Legs have created a raucous set of what can only be described as garage blues. “Liars, Cheats and Scoundrels”, has Daddy Long Legs unleashing wild, snarling tones that are barely contained by the CD itself. The album’s all original tracks could equally serve as either the soundtrack to a prison riot, or a night of drinking at the local bar after a break-up with your sweetheart.

Sterling Blues Band is the area’s newest and most exciting blues band. Three of the members, guitarist Aug Polowick, drummer Tom Trembley, and bassist John Gardiner, were the heart of the extremely popular Southwest Blues Review, and all three have been fixtures on the Chatham-Kent music scene for many years. Newcomer to the blues scene and vocalist Kim Sterling (Miss Kimmie) is an outstanding talent that delivers bold and powerful vocals with passion and heart. The band performs traditional and contemporary tunes by blues greats Etta James, Ruthie Foster, Tina Turner, Susan Tedeschi, as well as original music written by members of the band. The band will be giggling across Southern Ontario in the months ahead and looks forward to meeting blues fans everywhere.
