The Lord Selkirk Bridge in Wallaceburg has reopened to traffic, at least for now.
The bridge was originally slated to be closed throughout the week starting on Monday for repairs on the span lock.
However, the Municipality of Chatham-Kent confirmed on Wednesday that work has been completed earlier than expected.
“The new locking mechanism was successfully installed on Monday and crews will be working the rest of the week to ensure the moveable spans are operating as expected,” said Brendan Falkner, the manager of engineering with the municipality.
Sporadic closures will continue as part of the inspection process through the end of the week.
