A confrontation at a Chatham retail store has resulted in charges for a local man.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to a retail store on St. Clair Street shortly before 3 p.m. on January 8, after a loss prevention officer was physically assaulted and threatened by a customer.

Using surveillance footage, police were able to identify a suspect who was arrested on Linden Street the following day.

A 28-year-old Chatham-Kent man is now charged with two counts of assault and one count of uttering threats to cause bodily harm. The accused was later released with conditions and a February court date.
