A Chatham woman is keeping up her fight for what she believes is her fair share of a $6-million lottery win.
Pickard says the defendant, Maurice Thibeault has been surprisingly quiet so far.
“He hasn’t even filed a defense, he had 30 days to file his defense and he didn’t and we cautioned him and said ‘if you don’t file a defence we’re not going to give any indulgences or extra time because of the OLG motion'”, says Pickard. “We need to get this thing on, so now that their time has past, they’re not even allowed to file anything.”
The next step is a motion put forward by the OLG to have itself removed from the proceedings and the disputed three million dollars held by the courts for the duration of the case.
The motion will be heard in August.
