A pair of local landowners’ rehabilitation efforts are being recognized by the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority.

Randall Van Wagner is the Environmental Project Co-ordinator with the LTVCA. He says the Greening Award itself is something special.

“We had it created five years ago, Robin Wenzoski is the chainsaw artist in Highgate, he did this up, it’s actually carved out of a piece of elm.”

Art and Sharon Alliet have a farm on Turin Line in the former Orford Township. Sharon says it was an important project for the couple.

“So far we’ve planted 2,500 trees and this past winter we did a wetland. We’re just looking to give something back, and it’s very important, with so much coming down that something goes back up.”

The other winner is Steve Myslik who has been creating new wetlands, prairie and tree planted a large portion of his property on Talbot Trail.
